Northwest (5-5)

Muncy (7-3)

7 p.m. today

Eastern Conference Class A Semifinal

The Coaches: Northwest's Carl Majer (34-21, 5th year); Muncy's Jay Drumheller (10-9, 2nd year)

Last Meeting: Northwest 17-14 in 2004

All-Time Series: Tied 1-1

Quick Fact: Northwest gained the final playoff spot when Sayre declined to participate.

What's At Stake: The winner plays the Schuylkill Haven at Bucktail winner for the title. Northwest will be on the road if it wins. Muncy will host the game if it wins.

Scouting Northwest: The Rangers left snowy Montrose with a 19-7 loss last Friday that ended their season … until Sayre bowed out of the postseason.

Now, Northwest has new life, but must play much better than against Montrose. RB Tony Politz had a season-low 51 yards. He had rushed for 1,476 entering the game. Turnovers have been a problem. After losing four fumbles through their first seven games, the Rangers have lost five in the last three contest.

Scouting Muncy: Like Northwest, the Indians are best when the running game is the focal point. RB Troy Hembury has rushed for 1,183 yards and 18 of the team's 35 rushing touchdowns. QB Anthony Barberio has completed over half his passes, but has more interceptions (11) than TD throws (8). Eli Warnick is his favorite target.

The defense has held five opponents to a single touchdown. LB Jake Colburn is Muncy's best defensive player, leading the team in tackles and sacks.

What To Expect: The game will come down to which team can stop the run since neither is overly comfortable passing the ball.
