Boater: Something stinks at Harveys Lake launch

On Oct. 26, I was launching my boat at the Fish Commission launch site at Harveys Lake. My friend Ben and I noticed a high and very fast-running creek next to the launch. This creek is usually slow and clean before it empties into the lake next to the private beach.

We also detected a very bad odor of sewage or the smell of cattle urine. Thinking this couldn't be right, I called 911 and reported the situation. They were unsure who to give my complaint to, but they did take my name and phone number.

I soon received a call back from a man with the Harveys Lake fire company. He told me they know about this release and it is done on a regular basis by an owner of two ponds that drain into the creek.

He said that when the ponds get stagnant they do this, and if I wanted to call the state Department of Environment Protection or some environmental organizations I could, but they wouldn't come until the following week. I told him how bad it smelled and looked, but there was nothing he could do.

I wish the state Fish and Boat Commission, being that it appears to be on its property, would look into this.

Bring Musto to trial soon so he can be set ‘free'

Raphael Musto was a state senator for nearly 30 years. He certainly understands the system.

He is facing criminal charges. The fastest way to prove your innocence is a trial by jury of your peers. His attorneys seemingly are using every trick in the due process and depriving Musto of his day in court.

The trial will reveal the truth, and the truth will set you free. Let's get on with his day in court.
