WILKES-BARRE TWP. – A man accused of soliciting sex from a teen boy waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Michael Dotzel on Tuesday.
Steven E. Brown, 27, of Kingston, waived charges of promoting prostitution, promoting prostitution of a minor, dissemination of explicit material and stalking to Luzerne County Court.
Investigators withdrew charges of corruption of minors and criminal use of communication facility against Brown.
Brown remains jailed at the county prison for lack of $75,000 bail and on $25,000 bail that was recently revoked by Judge William Amesbury on unrelated child pornography charges.
Brown was initially arrested in May after investigators alleged he used a cellphone number for another teen boy for an advertisement on Craigslist soliciting sex.
Brown allegedly took nude photos of the boy and sent the boy lewd pictures and videos, according to the criminal complaint.
Shortly after he was released when his bail was modified in October, investigators say, Brown advertised on Craigslist soliciting sex using the cell number for a 17-year-old boy.
The teen told investigators he began receiving harassing calls from adult males and harassing text messages from Brown, the criminal complaint alleges.
Investigators allege Brown offered to pay the teen money in exchange for sex.
Brown is scheduled to be formally arraigned in county court on Feb. 22.
