WHITE HAVEN – Three people were transported to hospitals after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday that is blamed on a snow-covered Interstate 80.
Scott Johnson, 29, of Alexandria, Va., lost control of his 2011 Toyota Camry while traveling east on I-80 at about 2:45 p.m., state police at Hazleton said. Johnson's vehicle slid on snow and slush and struck a guide rail and a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Herbert Stangle, 42, of Sciota.
Johnson and a passenger in his vehicle, Anna Khait, 31, of Alexandria, Va., were transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
Stangle was taken to Hazleton General Hospital.
The two vehicles had to be towed, state police said.
DORRANCE TWP. – James Martini, 54, of Effort, was not injured when his 2008 Volvo slid on snow and severed a utility pole on Main Road at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Hazleton said.
HAZLE TWP. – Jose Diaz, 21, of West Hazleton, was injured when his vehicle slid in snow on Old Airport Road and struck a tree at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Hazleton said.
Diaz was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
HAZLE TWP. – A white female, 25 to 35 years old and about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, and two men stole a 42-inch flat-screen television from Walmart on Old Airport Road at about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Hazleton said.
The three people drove away in a teal-colored, two-door Chevrolet.
HAZLETON – Various electronic items were stolen during a home burglary in the 300 block of East Mine Street sometime between Dec. 22 and 25, city police said.
PLAINS TWP. – John Cicon, of Chamberlain Street, reported on Monday that packages delivered by UPS were stolen from his residence, township police reported.
