HANOVER TWP. – Freshmen Haylee Bobos and Asdone Hooper each scored 12 points in Hanover Area's 47-39 win at home over Northwest in WVC girls basketball play Thursday.


The Hawkeyes scored the game's first eight points and led throughout. Their lead grew to 20-9 in the second quarter before a 13-4 run by the Rangers. But despite making it a one-possession game at 24-22 on Alivia Womelsdorf's jumper midway through the third quarter, Northwest was unable to get the tying bucket.


Hanover Area responded with a 12-3 run to put the game away.


Five Hawkeyes had at least six rebounds, led by 14 pulled down by Bobos, who also had five steals. Amber Grohowski added eight rebounds and Sam Masher had seven as Hanover Area enjoyed a 53-29 edge on the glass.


Kelsey Yustat led Northwest with 12 points, all coming from behind the three-point arc, and six assists, while Alivia Womelsdorf added 11. Bailey Taylor had seven rebounds for the Rangers.

The Mohwaks duo of Quitterriua Gross (27 points) and Salimah Biggs (16) combined to outscore MMI by themselves as Meyers earned a win at home.


Quinniea Gross chipped in 12 points for Meyers.


Kayla Karchner led MMI with nine points.
