Gather your family and friends and prepare to travel the world through stories at the Dietrich Theater.
On Jan. 19 at 11 a.m., storyteller Fiona Powell will sit at her spinning wheel and spin tales from around the globe. Powell has amassed more than 150 stories in her head that she can readily tell, guided by her audience.
Jill Moffit of Greenwood Friends School said of Powell, Her show is a great success, in large part because of Fiona. Her technique of combining telling with spinning, created a soothing rhythm, captivating children and adults alike. She created an aura of immediate warmth.
Powell, of Welsh descent, began collecting stories as a small child in Japan. By the age of 10, Powell was a confirmed collector of stories when she received a book of Celtic tales as a gift. Over the years, Powell has lived in Japan, Wales, Scotland, England and the United States and has been gifted countless stories on her travels.
All ages are welcome to attend. Experience the warmth of an hour spent with laughter and maybe a few tears in the ancient tradition of the bards.
