ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Maggie Lucas scored 19 points and Alex Bentley added 16, and No. 8 Penn State took over sole possession of first place in the Big Ten with a 59-49 victory over No. 23 Michigan on Monday night.
The Lady Lions (15-2, 5-0 Big Ten) and Wolverines (15-3, 4-1) were the only teams in the league without a conference loss. Michigan kept it close before Penn State went on a late 12-0 run.
Rachel Sheffer had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolverines, who went 6 of 26 from 3-point range.
The loss snapped Michigan's 10-game winning streak, which equaled a school record. The Lady Lions have won nine straight.
Penn State led 47-46 before holding Michigan scoreless for over 6 minutes.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — C.J. Fair tipped in the go-ahead basket with 19.4 seconds left and No. 3 Syracuse rallied past No. 21 Cincinnati.
Trailing by seven with just over 5 minutes left, Syracuse tied it at 55 on Michael Carter-Williams' 3-pointer from the top of the key with 80 seconds left.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Otto Porter scored 19 points to lead Georgetown to a victory over No. 24 Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish's third loss in four games.
It was a dismal night for Notre Dame's offense, which recorded season lows in points scored, field goal percentage (35 percent) and assists (11).
