WVW??s Vest sets meet diving record

Wyoming Valley West's Collin Vest set an invitational record as he and Holy Redeemer's Kelsey Williams each finished first in the diving events on Friday at the Wyoming Valley West Ray Wills Invitational.

Vest won the boys dive with a record score of 505.80 while Williams took first on the girls side with a score of 352.70.

Valley West's Karina Zebresky placed second in girls (335.65) and Hazleton Area's Kayla Jadush finished third (284.50).

Hazleton Area's Edward Kovac placed second for boys (341.35) and Valley View's Julien-Amor Tchoukouani (355.35).

The competition continues at 9:30 a.m. today with the preliminary heats of the swimming evenrs. The finals are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Lake-Lehman 42, Wyoming Area 30

John Tomasura (113 pounds), Austin Harry (138), Joshua Winters (152), Kody Pachamovitch (220) and Dustin Jones (285) all recorded pins for the Black Knights in the win.

Wyoming Area picked up pins from Shaun Vasquez (106) and Nick O'Brien (160).

Misericordia 130, Messiah 72

Brad Thomas and Matt Cullen each earned an individual victory as the Misericordia University men's swimming team took nine of 11 events to defeat Messiah College.

Chris Gleason (1,000 free), Pete Kolokithias (200 IM), Nick Essington (500 free) and Pat O'Dell (100 back) also finished first.

Messiah 117, Misericordia 87

Dani Blass (200 free), Brittany Luzik (100 fly), Bree Grzech (100 back) and Dana Hallam (500 free) recorded wins for the Cougars in the loss.
