WILKES-BARRE – A parking meter on South Franklin Street was missing Saturday after it was struck by a vehicle, police said.


An officer was dispatched to the report of a crash around 11 a.m. The officer found fresh tire marks in the snow showing a vehicle jumped the curb and struck the pole to which the meter was attached. The parking meter could not be found at the scene.


HAZLETON – Police are seeking information on a hit-and-run incident Saturday morning.


According to police: A white sport utility vehicle traveling east on Fourth Street struck a Mazda traveling north on Locust Street around 11 a.m. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Hazleton Police Department at 459-4940.


HAZLETON – Police are investigating the theft of a dump truck loaded with a 4,000-pound electric magnet during a break-in at a garage at M.H. Brenner's Recycling on South Wyoming Street.


The 2002 Chevrolet Silverado with Pennsylvania license plate YVA6281 was stolen around 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. The truck has a red dump bed and an orange Curtis snow plow attached to the front. Several other items were stolen from the garage. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Hazleton Police Department at 459-4940.


HAZLE TWP. – State police said a citation for retail theft was issued to Stephanie Marie Wagner, 19, of West Hazleton on Jan. 19. Wagner left the Cigar Box store at the Laurel Mall without paying for a lighter, state police said.


BLACK CREEK TWP. – A driver was issued a safe speed traffic citation Friday following a crash on Interstate 80, state police said.


Patrick Garvey, 47, of Hawley, was traveling east on the roadway around 6:20 p.m. when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2007 Freightliner driven by Walter Yarrell, 57, of Passaic, N.J., police said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Garvey's vehicle was towed from the scene.


HAZLE TWP. – A man who drove his car into the back of a truck had a suspended license for driving under the influence, state police said.


The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of state Route 924 and Warehouse Drive. Ryan Peterson, 29, of Bloomsburg struck the rear of a 2010 Freightliner stopped for a red light in the left lane on Route 924, police said. Neither Peterson nor the truck driver, Bradley McVey, 52, of West Des Moines, Iowa, was injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.


Peterson was issued traffic violations for safe speed and driving with a suspended license, police said. Peterson's 2010 Nissan Altima was towed from the scene.


HANOVER TWP. – The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement reported citations were issued for gambling-related violations to the following:


• Slocum Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7918, Nuangola Road, for a violation on Aug. 30, 2012


• Jim-Mil Inc., Hunlock-Harveyville Road, Union Township, for a violation on Aug., 30, 2012


• Przybytek-Kundlas Home Association, Main Street, Dupont, for a violation on May 12, 2012


The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose monetary penalties, suspend or revoke licenses.
