The January meeting of the Wyoming Valley Real Estate Investors Association's Landlords Helping Landlords series will take place Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. The speaker for the evening will be Constable Larry Karis, who will discuss a constable's role as related to landlord tenant issues.



A Red Carpet Breakfast, hosted by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, will be held Wednesday at Mea's Restaurant, in Hazleton, beginning at 7:45 a.m. and adjourning at 9 a.m.


Hazleton Mayor Joe Yannuzzi will address chamber members and guests. A full breakfast will be served at the upcoming breakfast program at a cost of $20 per person for chamber members and $25 for guests. Reservations are required by contacting the chamber office at 455-1509 by Monday to make a reservation. Members can also sign up through the chamber's website at www.hazletonchamber.org.


The Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association will hold a legislative roundtable from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Feb. 8 at the Pottsville Club.


This roundtable will provide an opportunity for area manufacturing sector employers to share issues and concerns with local legislators. Topics up for discussion include workforce development, energy enhancements, right to work, transportation infrastructure, legal reform, and tax reform.


Officials who have confirmed for the roundtable are Sens. David Argall, John Gordner and John Blake and Reps. Neal Goodman, Doyle Heffley, Jerry Knowles and Mike Tobash.

The Wilkes University Small Business Development Center will hold a training session for business owners and employers titled Navigating the New Health Care Benefit Requirements.


Eric Pochas, director of client services at Vantagen LLC will offer information for businesses regarding their obligations under the Affordable Care Act and will give an update on obtaining appropriate insurance through the health care exchanges. Vantagen is an affiliate company of ParenteBeard, dedicated to human resources consulting and administration services.


The training will take place on Feb. 6 in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center training room, 75 Young Street, Hanover Township. This session will be conducted from 1 1:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will cost $10 per person. Lunch will be provided.


This session is being offered by the Small Business Development Centers of Wilkes University and the University of Scranton, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, Northeast Pennsylvania Alliance, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, Family Business Forum of Wilkes University and the South Valley Chamber of Commerce.
