Area fire and ambulance groups in for state grants

HARRISBURG – Thirty volunteer fire and ambulance companies in the region were awarded a total of more than $365,000 in state grants.

The Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant program is funded through gambling proceeds.

The grants can be used for a variety of purposes, including the construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchasing or repairing equipment, training, or mitigation of existing debt.

The grants were awarded to:

•Benton Volunteer Fire Co. – $11,500 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Dallas Fire and Ambulance Inc. – $13,116 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Dennison Township Fire Co. – $11,661.

•Dorrance Township Volunteer Fire Dept. – $12,469 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Fairmount Township Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co. - $11,661 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

• Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. – $11,721.

• Franklin/Northmoreland Townships Ambulance Association – $6,241.

•Harveys Lake Fire and Ambulance Co. – $11,822 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Hobbie Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 – $11,984 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Hunlock Creek Volunteer Ambulance Association – $6,651.

•Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Co. – $11,500.

•Jonathan R. Davis Volunteer Fire Dept. – $11,500.

•Kunkle Fire Co. – $12,469 for fire services and $6,651 for ambulance services.

•Lake Silkworth Volunteer Ambulance Association – $6,651.

•Lake Silkworth Volunteer Fire Co. – $11,500.

•Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 Inc. – $11,500

•Nescopeck Ambulance Association – $6,651.

•Nescopeck Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 – $11,500.
