Keystone College event planning students in La Plume are taking the lessons they learned in the classroom and organizing Run for a Rescue, a 5K run/walk April 20 at McDade Park, in Scranton. All proceeds will benefit Blue Chip Farms, an animal rescue in nearby Dallas.

Runners should arrive by 8 a.m. and walkers should be at the park no later than 8:30 a.m. The registration fee is $20 prior to April 15 and $25 after that date. Participants and guests are welcome to bring their leashed animal to the event.

Blue Chip Farms strives to provide animal a safe haven, a place where older, stray, abandoned, sick or abused animals can wait to be adopted or simply live out their lives in safety and peace.
