The Tunkhannock Business and Professional Women (BPW) Wine Down 2013, a night at the movies at the historic Dietrich Theater in downtown Tunkhannock, will be held Thursday, May 2,. In addition to the movie, there will be wine, finger foods, desserts, and door prizes. It would make a great date night since the movie will appeal to both men and women or a great gift for someone.

This year’s movie will be The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), which follows a group of British retirees who decide to retire in less expensive and more exotic India. This outstanding film stars Judi Dench, Bill Nighy and Maggie Smith. It was nominated for Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, British Independent Film, NAACP Image, BAFTA Film and Broadcast Critics Association Awards.

Tickets are available in advance from BPW members or at the door at a cost of $25 per person. Doors open at the Dietrich Theater for the festivities at 6:15 p.m.; the movie starts in the Evans Theater at 7:30 p.m. Please contact Chairperson Linda Sokoloski at 570.574.9037 or by e-mail at lcsps3@ptd.net with any questions or for more information about Wine Down 2013.

This event is one of the major fund-raising events undertaken annually by Tunkhannock BPW, a chapter of BPW PA, an organization dedicated to promoting full participation, equity and economic self-sufficiency for America’s working women. In recognition of the mission of the organization to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information, the proceeds from Wine Down 2013 will benefit the Fran Colemen Memorial Scholarship for Tunkhannock Area High School seniors, the Girl Scout Scholarship fund and non-profit organizations within the community that provide support to women and children.

The Tunkhannock BPW chapter currently meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Tunkhannock Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1276. Interested guests are welcome. Please contact the chapter President, Terri Detrick, at 570.499.7194 for further information.
