WEST PITTSTON — Exeter police recently arrested an Edwardsville man on charges he sexually molested two boys.
Eli Zachariah Spindler, 25, of East Grove Street, was arraigned Monday night by District Judge Joseph Carmody on two counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful contact with minors, and one count each of indecent assault, corruption of minors and dissemination of sexual material to a minor. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
A 15-year-old boy stayed at a friend’s house on Chestnut Street the night of April 6 when he was awakened by Spindler performing a lewd sex act on him. He told Spindler to stop several times but Spindler continued with the alleged act.
The boy contacted his mother who picked him up and contacted police. He said Spindler contacted him on Facebook and expressed an interest in seeing him, the complaint says.
Police learned of two other boys who had contact with Spindler in late March and early April.
A 14-year-old boy told police that he and a 15-year-old friend stayed at the Chestnut Street house on March 28, playing video games late into the night. Spindler was inside the house when they talked about going to a fitness center in Plains Township to play basketball.
After walking into the fitness center, the 14-year-old claimed Spindler first wanted to undress and go in the hot tub and steam room. They then got dressed and played basketball for a while, until Spindler and the 14-year-old went back to the sauna, where Spindler massaged the teen boy’s legs, the complaint says.
Police said in the complaint that the 14-year-old boy accompanied Spindler to his Edwardsville residence where Spindler suggested they masturbate. The boy claimed Spindler gave him a pornographic magazine to help him perform the solo sex act, according to the criminal complaint.
The 15-year-old boy told police he denied Spindler’s alleged sexual advances.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled on May 15.
