Former Lackawanna Trail head boys basketball coach Andrew Kettel has been named as the new head basketball coach at Scranton Prep.
“Personally, I wanted to challenge myself as a coach by moving to a bigger program and bigger school,” Kettel said. “I was an assistant coach there for six years. When the position opened, I was excited to apply and I’m thrilled they chose me to be the coach.”
Kettel, who was the boys basketball head coach at Lackawanna Trail for six years, announced his decision at the school today.
“The hardest part was telling the students and players that I was going to be leaving,” he said. “I think they understand that I’m just trying to better myself. I wish them nothing but the best and asked them to challenge themselves to continue to get better.”
Kettel has high hopes for the Scranton Prep basketball program in the coming years.
“I want us to play in the state tournament every year and hopefully have the opportunity to play for a state championship at some point,” he said.
