A dance was held by BAPS, a worldwide civic and religious organization that celebrates and preserves Indian culture, on Saturday, Oct. 5, in celebration of Navratri.


During the celebration of Navratri, women and girls of all ages praise the Lord by singing and dancing to show their affection for the Lord. Their actions are a form of devotion and prayer to show their love for God. Saturday marked the first night of the nine day celebration.


BAPS is a nonprofit organization that serves in the areas of children and youth development, family unity, cultural heritage, humanitarian services, and spirituality. The organization has nearly 50 locations in their North American region, where they have contributed to efforts such as Hurricane Katrina, the World Trade Center attacks, and many other natural disasters.
