The Dupont Borough is looking to form a committee to oversee the progress in Dupont. It will be a committee to work on the recreational needs, grant application needs, furture projects and beautification of the Dupont Borough. It will also begin fundraisers and plans for the 2017 birthday celebration and much more.
A meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29 prior to the Crime Watch meeting at 6:30 p.m. Residents interested in being part of the progress for the Dupont committe should attend.
Dupont Public Works Department has started its summer hours for pickups of refuse, yard waste and recycling. Summer hours are from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents are asked to place their items curbside the night before a scheduled run. The department will no longer make return trips for pickups.
Residents are reminded that borough bags must be used and there is a weight limit. Borough workers need to lift the bags into trucks and over limit bags can cause injury. Bags will be left curbside that exceed the weight limit.
Third District GOP
to meet Monday
The Third District GOP will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21 at the Dupont VFW. Chairman Pat Marranca will preside. Anyone interested in joining the Republican Party is encouraged to attend.
Yard waste is processed at the compost center and therefore cannot include any unacceptable items, including rock, dirt, concrete or other materials or items that can cause damage to the grinder. A weight limit exists for yard waste containers as well.
Any large tree, brush or shrub removal require a call to the borough for truck rental. The truck will be parked at the property and the property owner must load the truck. There is a $15 charge for this special service. Again, the public works employees can only pickup a normal amount of yard waste, anything extra needs a special arrangement.
Mandatory recycling exists in the borough which allows the borough to receive grant money to further promote and cover expenses associated with recycling containers, etc. It has been reported that recyclables are being disposed of in the refuse bags. By doing this, the borough is losing revenue, and paying for disposal of the material at the landfill.
All items should be curbside the night before the scheduled pick up date.
V.F.W. Post #4909 will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4 at the post home. Commander Mark Roney will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow. Food and refreshments will be served.
