Children in the AWANA program at Cross Creek Community Church in Trucksville collected hats, mittens and scarves to donate to the families at the Kirby Family House in Wilkes-Barre. The AWANA program is for children ages 18 months through fifth grade and each year, as one of the special nights, children bring in items for their “Christmas Mitten Tree Night.” This year, they collected 133 items to be donated. Special nights like “Christmas Mitten Tree Night” teaches children to care for others and gives them the opportunity to help families in their community.
