The Luzerne Conservation District will host its 50th Anniversary Banquet at 6 p.m. March 29 at the Genetti Hotel & Conference Center, 77 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre.

The event will include cocktails, dinner, an auction, and an awards presentation for people and groups that have made contributions to the conservation of natural resources.

The district was established by county commissioners in 1964, when landowners and residents petitioned them to create a soil and water conservation district out of concern for the natural, scenic and historic resources. Today, the district works to conserve land and water resources by promoting public awareness, providing technical assistance and encouraging regulatory compliance.

For more information, call the district office at 570-674-7991 or visit www.luzcd.org. The deadline to order tickets is Monday.
