There’s at least one week of summer left before the thermometer starts drifting toward cooler temperatures for good.

Following a brisk and rainy Saturday, temps will climb back up into the 80s this week with sunny skies in the forecast. WNEP-TV meteorologist Joe Snedeker says a swath of cleaner, dryer air coming down from the north will bring a relief from humidity.

“This could be one of the warmest, dryest weeks of the entire summer,” Snedeker said during his forecast this morning. The meteorologist laughed, “And the kids are going back to school.”

Heavy fog covers many parts of the Northeast this morning, but it should mostly be cleared by 9 a.m. revealing a sunny day with a high of 79. Fog returns tonight, low of 57.

Temperatures begin climbing Monday, but they’re not expected to reach their max until Wednesday. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 87 degrees.

Friday brings the earliest hint of rain and temperatures dipping into the 60s.
