Overcast skies this morning will gradually give way to showers and possibly some thunderstorms later on today.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 51 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Overcast skies lingered over the Wyoming Valley for the weekend early birds.

That chance for showers and thunderstorms will carry on up until 1 a.m. — there will be a slight chance of showers after that. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, but more could fall with the thunderstorms. The low tonight will reach the lower 40s.

The chance for rain will return after 10 a.m. on Sunday — otherwise, partly sunny skies are expected. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible. The high on Sunday will climb to the upper 50s. That slight chance for rain will carry on up to before 9 p.m. on Sunday night — otherwise, partly cloudy skies are predicted. The low on Sunday night will drop back down to the upper 30s.
