CAMPS/CLINICS

 

King’s College
women’s lacrosse will host a Winter Warm-Up Clinic on Saturday, Feb.16 in King’s new Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. Two sessions will be offered. The first is from 9 a.m. to noon, open to girls in grades 9 to 12. The second is from 1 to 4 p.m., open to girls in elementary and middle school. Cost is $30 per-participant if registration is paid before Jan. 31. Cost after Jan. 31 is $45 per-participant. Clinic tee-shirts are available for $10. LEAGUES

 

Kingston Recreation Center Softball League registration is underway. There are eight teams for all men’s leagues, including Sunday morning, and 12 teams for the Sunday co-ed league. If paid by Feb. 17, the fee is $250. The fee after that date is $275. Also a wooden bat league is set for Fridays and the cost is $125.

 

MEETINGS

 

Coughlin Football Booster Club will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Solomon/Plains Junior High School. Election of officers and schedule of upcoming events will be discussed. Parents are urged to attend.

County Line Girls Softball League will have its kickoff meeting on Thursday, Jan.17 at 6:30pm in the Dupont Borough Building. All town and or team reps are asked to attend. Any town, team, or organization that wants to join our league for this season is welcome to attend. For more info call Bob Cappelloni at 881-8744.

Crestwood Football Booster Club will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at Tony’s Pizza.

Hanover Area Quarterback Club will be holding a meeting Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.at Major League Sports Bar in Sugar Notch. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the quarterback club is encouraged to attend.

Plains Yankees Football & Cheerleading Organization will meet today at 7 p.m. at the PAV in Hudson. All are welcome to attend the meeting.

 

REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS

 

Back Mountain American Legion will hold registration for the upcoming season at the lower level of the Dallas American Legion on Sunday, Jan. 20 from 8 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Eligible players reside in the Dallas and Lake-Lehman school district and will be 13 to 19 years old in 2013. Moosic Mets Baseball will be holding tryouts for players ages 8-17 at Electric City Baseball Academy 733 Davis St. Scranton, PA. Ages 8-11 will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16 (6-8pm). Ages 15-17 will be held Saturday, Jan. 19 (10am-12pm) and Wednesday, Jan. 23 (6-8pm). Ages 12-14 will be held Sunday, Jan. 20 (2-4pm) and Thursday, Jan. 24 (6-8pm). Swoyersville Slow Pitch Girls Softball will hold signups today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 19 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Jan. 22 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 26 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Feb. 5 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Signups will be held at the softball field in the stand on Tripp St. in Swoyersville. UPCOMING EVENTS/OTHER

 

Jenkins Township Little League will have a fund raiser sponsored by Red Mill Friday, Jan. 18 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the league. Anyone that would like to donate baskets or items to be placed in gift baskets should contact the league.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Men’s Soccer Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics. The qualified person will plan and direct team during all practices and games; recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; emphasize academic success to student-athletes; supervise assistant coaches; and promote the soccer program. This is a part-time, fixed-term 2 position. Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of successful coaching and/or playing experience is required. Applicant must be at least 25 years old.
