Thinking about doing a century?

Then you will want to be at Sickler’s Bike & Sport on Wednesday to hear Paul Zbiek speak.

Paul Zbiek will host a workshop entitled, “So You Wanna Ride A Century?”at 6 p.m.

He promises to answer all your questions on how to get ready to hit that magical 100-mile mark.

And Paul should know a thing or two about long distance riding.

He has ridden over 100,000 miles and completed over 400 UltraMarathon Cycling Association certified centuries. In 2004, he was the UMCA Mileage Challenge champion with over 60 century rides. That’s two months worth of 100 milers.

In August, Zbiek will attempt to repeat the “Metric Mellennium.” That’s 1,000 kilometers — or over 621 miles to you and me.

So, yay, if you are mulling the idea of doing a century, you won’t want to miss Paul’s talk.

The timing couldn’t be better, either. Wednesday would be a perfect day to start preparing for September’s Great 100.

Even if you’re not planning on becoming a long-distance cyclist — and trust me, I’m not — Wednesday night should make for an interesting evening.
