HANOVER TWP. – Police on Sunday said David Carpenter Jr. of Hillside Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested on driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after a hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle on West Liberty Street.
Carpenter was located a short distance from the crash and exhibited signs of intoxication, police said. He also refused to submit to a blood test, police said.
WILKES-BARRE – City police Sunday reported the following:
• Copper piping and a water meter were stolen from a property on Oregon Street during a break-in that occurred between Saturday morning and Sunday morning.
• A copper drain pipe on the front of the First Presbyterian Church on South Franklin Street was damaged when someone tried to steal it between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
• A vehicle parked in the rear lot of the Quality Inn on Kidder Street was damaged between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The driver’s side front wheel well was dented.
