DELANO TWP. -- State police at Frackville said a man ejected from a truck in a crash on Interstate 81 was struck by multiple vehicles Sunday night.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes just before 9 p.m. when a 1999 Ford Expedition traveled off the interstate and struck an embankment in the median. The Ford rolled over several times, ejecting two men, state police said.

One of the men was found on a rock embankment and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem with serious injuries. The other man landed on the interstate and was struck by multiple vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office, state police said.

State police said it remains unknown who was driving the Ford. Neither occupant used seatbelts.

Identifications of the two men involved in the crash have not been released.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 81 were closed for four hours, state police said.

BUTLER TWP. – A “Work Area Ahead” road sign was recently reported missing from a construction zone on Main Street.
