Wyoming Library

The Tea Tips and Treasures Program for April will be American Girl Celebration. It will be held at 1 p.m. on April 19. Tea and treats will be served. There will be a doll display and the craft will be making pretend food for the American Girl dolls.

The library will have preschool story time (ages 3-5) on the following Mondays: April 21, 28, May 5, 12 and 19. The time for story time will be from 11 a.m. to noon. Space is limited, so call the library to register.

The Friends of the Wyoming Free Library book sales will continue at the Wyoming United Methodist Church (next door to the library). The dates are: April 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spring Gardening Sale.

The next Friends Meeting is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16. Friends of the Wyoming Free Library Recruitment Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

The Wyoming Free Library and Cameo House Bus Tours are running a bus trip to tour the Downton Abbey costume exhibit at Winterthur Museum in Delaware. The trip is Saturday, June 7. The cost of the trip is $175 per seat - this includes the bus seat, breakfast treat, goodie bag, water, English brunch, light snack on the way home and admission to the museum. The Wyoming Free Library will hold a discussion group during the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones.” The discussion group will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. every Monday to talk about what happened on Sunday night.

The Furry Tails Reading Program meets from 10 to 11 a.m. every third Saturday. Call the library to register.

The Wyoming Free Library Crafty Kids Club meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday. Discover new crafting techniques, learn to sew and create unique gifts for family and friends - for kids ages 7 through 12.

The library is asking for the donation of sewing machines circa 1985 or newer, for the continuance of our “Teach Me to Sew” program. This program started in January and will continue throughout the summer. At present, there are six girls ages 7 to 9 who are doing well.

The Coupon Crew will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The group will talk about coupons and how to save money.

The library will have Fill-A-Bag-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Friday. People can fill a bag of books from the lobby for $3. Plastic bags are available in the library, or people can bring their own bags from home.

The Young Adult Book Discussion (YABD) will meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 26. The group will discuss the book “Discovery of witches” by Deborah Harkness. Call the library to register or to request a copy of the book. Light refreshments will be served. The book was scheduled for discussion in March, but had to be rescheduled.

West Pittston

National Library Week will be held from Sunday, April 13 to Saturday, April 19. Return overdue West Pittston Library item and the fine will be waived this week. Also, peruse the oh-so adorable childhood pictures of the staff and their favorite childhood books while guessing who’s who.

Gardening 101 will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17. Join Penn State Master Gardener Sharon Telesky as she discusses everything gardening. Registration is recommended for this free program.

Bread Making Class will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 28 and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. Cost is $10. Join Mary Agolino and Art Valli with this two-night class at First United Methodist Church in West Pittston to learn to make your own bread from scratch. Participants need to bring an apron and a 3 ½ to 4 ½ quart covered, oven safe dish. Registration is required for this program.

Star Wars Cut-Outs Open House is from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. Once upon a time, in a library very close by, there were cardboard cut-outs of your favorite Star Wars characters. Join us for “Star Wars: The Science Behind the Movies.”

Weekly Story Time is held at 1 p.m. every Friday. Introduce children to the library and get them interested in books with our weekly Story Time. Each Story Time includes books, songs and crafts related to that week’s theme. Sign up by Wednesday of each week for this free program.

“Star Wars: May the Fourth Be With You!” will be held at noon on Saturday, April 26. Hop on your Tauntaun and get to the library to celebrate all things Star Wars. Create a pool noodle light saber, practice your Jedi training to survive the asteroid field and more. Afterwards, sign up for a Star Wars Trivia Contest. Registration is required for this free program.

Pittston Library

Easter week hours will be as follows: Thursday, April 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19, closed.

It’s National Library Week from April 13-17. Here are the events to be held at the library:

The Library will conduct amnesty all week long. Fines are forgiven for items returned, even items that have been billed. The only exception are magistrate cases that have been filed.

Traveling Library Card Contest: Send us pictures of your library card in interesting places to the Facebook or email. The card with the most likes by the end of library week will win a prize.

Design a Book Mark Contest: Design your own bookmark with the theme “Lives Change at your Library.” Pick up a template at the library this week. Deadline to enter is Thursday, April 17. Winning bookmarks will be used in the library.

During National Library Week, the library will post pictures of places around the library to Facebook page. The first person to correctly guess the location wins a prize.

Storytime is ongoing and open to children 18 months and up. Call the library for the days and times.

The Crochet Club meets every Tuesday at 10 a.m. and Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Science Club will meet at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.

The next Friends meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28.

The Craft Club will meet on Monday, April 14. Children age 5 and up are welcome to come and create.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group will meet on Monday, April 28.

Unclaimed Property Search will continue with a meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24.

TAG, the library’s Teen Advisory Group, meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
