HANOVER TWP. - The workforce at the CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy will grow to nearly 600 with a wave of new hires.
The six-year-old facility in the Hanover Crossings business park will take on the new workers because of the company’s growing business, said spokeswoman Christine Cramer.
“As a result, over the next several months, we are planning to hire approximately 150 new employees to work at our Wilkes-Barre mail services facility at a variety of levels,” Cramer said in an e-mail Tuesday.
The jobs are for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, customer service representatives, accounts receivable, inventory/material handling and clerical and management positions.
The company has been advertising in local newspapers to fill the spots.
The new hires will join the workforce of approximately 450 at the facility that opened in 2002 as Advance PCS. The total has grown as the highly-automated facility expanded operations to 24 hours a day, seven days a week and underwent a series of name changes.
Advance PCS merged with Caremark Rx in 2003. Last year CVS, the nation’s largest pharmacy chain, merged with Caremark, the nation’s leading pharmaceutical services company.
Cramer said the additional jobs will go the Hanover Crossings facility because of its “track record of solid performance, operational capacity and the presence of a strong local labor market.”
