WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Jersey Mike’s Subs in Bear Creek Commons will donate 100 percent of sales today to the Bear Creek Charter School.

Jim Sirotnak, owner of Jersey Mike’s Subs in Wilkes-Barre Township, said the all-day fundraising event, known as the “Day of Giving,” is celebrated throughout the restaurant-chain.

All sales made until closing at 9 p.m. in the made-to-order eatery will be donated to the Bear Creek Charter School.

The school is in the process of building a 64,000-square foot facility to accommodate up to 468 students from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Sirotnak said by 2 p.m. they raised about $1,500 for the school and was hoping to reach $3,000 by closing.

Last year, the event raised $2.1 million nationwide for more than 100 charities. This year’s goal is $2.5 million for more than 120 charities.
