WILKES-BARRE — Tom Salvo has been named circulation director at the Times Leader Media Group, according to Publisher Mike Murray.
Salvo started his career at The Philadelphia Inquirer as a district manager in the early 1980s and has more than 20 years of experience in newspapers. Before coming to the Times Leader, he worked in circulation sales and distribution for the Press of Atlantic City for three years.
Salvo, 56, also has served in several circulation roles for the Gannett Company, and he twice earned a CEO Award, an honor given by a publisher to a person who made a difference.
With the Times Leader, Salvo said he is excited about initiatives he has planned. He said with the help of the team, all can be accomplished.
“This company is committed to remain relevant in Northeastern Pennsylvania news media on all platforms via digital through tablets, laptops, phones and print products to doorsteps,” Salvo said. “Growing circulation and giving world-class customer service are the key objectives. I look forward to giving a comprehensive reach to our advertisers and our readers.”
Murray said he is “extremely pleased” to have Salvo join the operation.
“His circulation expertise will greatly enhance the sales, marketing and distribution of all of the Times Leader Media Group products,” Murray said, referring to the flagship Times Leader, the Sunday Dispatch of Pittston, the Abington Journal, the Dallas Post and the Weekender.
Salvo is a Philadelphia native who grew up in south New Jersey. He is a graduate of Camden County College, earning an associate degree in Applied Science in Business Management. He is a board member of the Interstate Circulation Managers Association and treasurer of the Greater Philadelphia Postal Customer Council.
He and his wife, Lisa, and daughters Ashley, Gia and Nina are relocating to the area from Blackwood, N.J.
