WILKES-BARRE – Public accounting firm ParenteBeard LLC has consolidated its Northeastern Pennsylvania operations into an existing office at 46 Public Square, the Martz Building.
An office at 600 Linden St., Scranton, has been closed.
All of the Scranton office employees, just under 30, are now based in Wilkes-Barre, raising employment there to nearly 125, said Maggy MacPherson, director of marketing for the firm.
“This was part of the strategic plan … this will just allow for more efficiency,” MacPherson said.
“A lot of our service actually happens at the project site; that will just continue to happen,” she said. “The clients really won’t feel an impact.”
An affiliate maintains an office in Clarks Summit that can be utilized for meetings, document pickup and other face-to-face uses.
Employees’ and the company’s involvement in the Scranton area will not change, MacPherson said.
“They continue to live in those communities and be involved in those communities,” she said.
ParenteBeard was created Oct. 1 with the merger of Parente Randolph LLC and Reading-based Beard Miller Co. LLP. Parente Randolph was founded in 1970 in Wilkes-Barre but had been headquartered in Philadelphia for several years.
Beard Miller chairman and chief executive Lamar Stoltzfus serves as chairman of the new firm. Bob Ciaruffoli, former chairman and CEO of Parente Randolph, is chief executive officer.
ParenteBeard has more than 170 partners and 1,200 employees who work in offices in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Texas.
