Spaghetti dinners, at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. 4 to 6 p.m. each Thursday in the church hall. $8, includes salad, pasta dinner, bread, dessert and beverage. Choice of six pastas and five sauces. Ample parking. 570-823-6692.

Holiday Sale, Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church is holding a Holiday Sale in the church hall, corner of Bliss and Center streets in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke. The sale will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Nov. 11, haluski, and on Nov. 18, baked goods and Christmas Cookies will be made and sold. Pierogis will be made on Dec 1 and 2. Orders will be taken for the pierogis by calling Geri at 570-824-3880. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decor will be featured at the sale. A huge selection of gently used designer bags are being sold and they make great Christmas gifts. The sales will be held weather permitting and while supplies last. Free dinners for veterans and active military will be served Nov. 8 at Cork Bar & Restaurant, 463 Madison Street in Wilkes-Barre/ Those eligible for the free meal include active military personnel with military IDs and veterans with any type of veteran IDs. The free meal will include an entrée up to $20 value, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 570-270-3818.

Roast Pork Dinner, sponsored by American Legion Riders Post 495, to benefit local veterans, 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11, Shickshinny American Legion, 575 State Route 239, Shickshinny. Tickets are available at the bar for $8 in advance, at the door $10 on day of event. Scalloped potatoes, green beans and apple sauce round out the menu. Wilkes University Choral Ensembles spaghetti dinner, 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12, Henry Student Center Ballroom, West South Street, Wilkes-Barre. In addition to a buffet-style dinner, attendees will be treated to musical entertainment. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Klopsi, Pork and Homemade Sauerkraut Dinner, noon to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 26 at the St. Faustina Parish Center, West Noble St., Nanticoke. A limited number of meals will be for sale at the door on a first-come-first-serve basis.
