Spaghetti dinners, at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. 4 to 6 p.m. each Thursday in the church hall. $8, includes salad, pasta dinner, bread, dessert and beverage. Choice of six pastas and five sauces. Ample parking. 570-823-6692. Spaghetti dinners run through May and possibly into the first week of June. Dinners will not be offered on Dec. 28 and Jan. 4.

Pierogi Sale, will take place on weekends while supplies last at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, in the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township. Pickup is available after 5:15 p.m. Mass on Saturdays, after 10 a.m. Mass on Sundays, and from noon until 1 p.m. on Sundays or by appointment. $8 for sauerkraut; $8 for potato; $9 for cheese. Christmas Dinner Dance, will be held by the Dupont V.F.W., post 4909, 401 Main St., Dupont, on Dec. 9. The bar will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dinner will be served from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m., and dancing will take place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. . Christmas Tea sponsored by the Lake-Lehman Foundation at the Irem Clubhouse from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 10, with assorted scones, fresh fruits, salad, finger sandwiches and desserts. Soup and Salad Dinner, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 26 N. Main St., Ashley. $5 for adults; $2.50 for children 12 and younger; free for children 3 and under. St. Mary’s Dinner Club, will host a meal at 6 p.m. Dec. 14 at St. Mary’s Center, 320 Mifflin Ave., Scranton, with one seating only. Dinner features holiday carving stations: top sirloin of beef, honey glazed smoked ham, tender roast turkey breast; a side station: candied yams, Italian style green beans, glazed carrots; and cheese cake for dessert. Pirohi Sale, St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, Church and Winter streets, Old Forge, on Dec. 13. The deadline for ordering is Nov. 25, and orders can be placed by calling Sandra at 570-457-9280 or the church hall at 570-457-2875 (leave a message). $6.50 per dozen. Limited amounts so order early.

Pirogie Sale, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral Center, 700 Hill St., Mayfield. Fried pirogie will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis, and orders will be taken for frozen pirogie. $7 per dozen. 6th Annual Christmas Cookie Walk, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 16, Exaltation of the Holy Cross Parish, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood, Hanover Township. $9 a container to fill with whatever cookies you like. There will be more than 30 varieties from which to choose. Pre-made platters will also be available for $35. Complimentary coffee, tea, and cocoa will be available for all patrons. All cookies are homemade including anise wedding, thumbprint, pepper cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter kisses, nut rugalach, linzer, Welsh cookies and more. Cookie Walk, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church hall of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 N. Main St., Pittston. Cookies include kolachi, Italian ricotta, peanut butter, chocolate, linzer, cherry winks, Russian tea cakes and more. $8 per pound. Annual Breakfast, will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at the Hughestown Hose Company, 30 Center St., Hughestown. Santa will be available for pictures, and children’s activities will take place during breakfast. Event features a raffle and food drive. Santa will tour the neighborhood and collect food donations. A siren will announce his arrival. $10 per person; free for children under 5. Donation can be made at door.

Christmas Cookie Sale, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Cookies cost $10 for 1 pound and $5 for a 1/2 pound assortment. A limited amount of cookies will be available on the day of sale, but to place orders, call 570-313-2180.
