The Newport Township American Legion Auxiliary Unit 539 held its annual Christmas party at the Legion post home in Glen Lyon with caroling, games, raffles and a gift exchange. New members are always welcome. For info, call Lorrie Materewicz, president, at 570-736-7177. The group’s activities are veteran and community-centered and volunteers are always needed for a food bank held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. You do not need to be a member to volunteer.
