Roast Beef Dinner 5-7 p.m. today at the Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company hall, Demunds Road, Center Moreland. Takeouts will be sold. Tickets are available from any fire company member and at the door. Adults pay $7; children 12 years of age and younger pay $4.
Spaghetti Dinner 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at White Haven United Methodist Church, Buffalo Street, White Haven. Takeouts sold from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Dinners include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, beverages, and dessert. Adults pay $7; children ages 6-12 pay $4.
Community Lunch Program for White Haven Residents 1 1:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 418 Berwick St., White Haven. This ministry is sponsored by the White Haven Ministerium and supported through donations. Church membership is not required. Doors open at 10 a.m. for coffee and close at 1:30 p.m. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact any local pastor in White Haven or the Rev. Share Our Strengths Great American Dine Out� today through Saturday at T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants in Wilkes-Barre and Dickson City to raise funds to help end childhood hunger in America. Fundraiser for Rotary Christmas Shopping Spree sponsored by the Dallas Rotary Club and Friendly’s Restaurant in Dallas. Friendly’s will donate up to 20 percent of its proceeds from food purchased at its restaurant between 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday. Diners can also register to win prizes at the Rotary display in the front of the restaurant. The shopping spree will benefit 45 less fortunate children in the Back Mountain area.

King of the Mountain Chili Cook-Off registrations are due Sunday by calling 474-6060 or deliver the $10 fee to Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S. Main Road, Mountain Top. Sponsored by the United Methodist Men, the contest will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the church pavilion. Dwayne (Chili) Sherksnas is the chairman. Chili must be presented in a crock pot. Refreshments, bowls, spoons, ladles and cups will be provided. The donation to taste and judge entries is $5; children younger than 12 are free. Prizes will be given to first- and second-place winners.
Pasties, Pot Pies, Shepherd’s Pie and Pizza orders will be accepted until Oct. 6 by calling the Plymouth Public Library at 779-4775 or by contacting any member of the Friends of the Plymouth Public Library. Pasties are $4.50 each; pot pies and shepherd’s pies are $4.75 each; pizza costs $6.50 per 12-cut box. Pickup orders after noon on Oct. 14. All proceeds benefit the library.
