Roast Beef Dinner 5-7 p.m. today at the Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company hall, Demunds Road, Center Moreland. Takeouts will be sold. Tickets are available from any fire company member and at the door. Adults pay $7; children 12 years of age and younger pay $4.

Spaghetti Dinner 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at White Haven United Methodist Church, Buffalo Street, White Haven. Takeouts sold from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Dinners include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, beverages, and dessert. Adults pay $7; children ages 6-12 pay $4.

Community Lunch Program for White Haven Residents 1 1:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 418 Berwick St., White Haven. This ministry is sponsored by the White Haven Ministerium and supported through donations. Church membership is not required. Doors open at 10 a.m. for coffee and close at 1:30 p.m. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact any local pastor in White Haven or the Rev. Share Our Strengths Great American Dine Out� today through Saturday at T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants in Wilkes-Barre and Dickson City to raise funds to help end childhood hunger in America. The restaurant will donate $1 for every Jack Daniels entr�e sold during the week-long national event. For more information visit Strength.org or GreatAmericanDineOut.org.

Spaghetti and Pasta Dinner 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. A choice of five pastas, seven sauces with chicken or sausage, salad, dessert, and beverages will be sold. Takeouts are available. Tickets are $7 for adults; children 12 years of age and younger $5; children under 5 years of age dine free. For more information, call 824-1674 on Thursdays.

Fundraiser for Rotary Christmas Shopping Spree sponsored by the Dallas Rotary Club and Friendly’s Restaurant in Dallas. Friendly’s will donate up to 20 percent of its proceeds from food purchased at its restaurant between 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday. Diners can also register to win prizes at the Rotary display in the front of the restaurant. The shopping spree will benefit 45 less fortunate children in the Back Mountain area.

Potato Pancake and Haluski Sale 1 1 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday in the parlors at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, Front and Welles streets, Hanover, Nanticoke.

Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner reservations are due by Friday. Call 822-7725. The dinner includes an all-you-can-eat salad bar and bake sale from 1 1:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 591 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children.

Family-Style Ham Dinner 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday at Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company, 5383 Main Road, Sweet Valley. Takeouts begin at 4 p.m. The meal is all-you-can-eat, with the exception of dessert. Cost is $8 for adults; $4 children 6-1 1 years old; children younger than 6 dine free. Proceeds benefit the fire company.

Barbecued Chicken Dinner, sponsored by the Board of Trustees, 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church, 65 Academy St., Wilkes-Barre. Takeouts are available. Tickets are $8 per adult, $4 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets will be sold at the door or call the church office at 822-7246.

“A Taste of White Haven,” sponsored by the White Haven Area Community Library, featuring the wines of Bartolai Winery of Pittston 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall, Church and Allegheny streets, White Haven. Food will be provided by local restaurants including Antonio’s, Arturo’s Wild Fern, Carmine’s Pizza, Charlie Weaver’s, The Feed Mill, Jack’s Grill, Main Street Coffee Works, Sitko’s Family Restaurant, and The Ugly Mug. Bake Sale 9:30 a.m. Saturday, sponsored by the Friendship Circle of Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S. Main Road, Mountain Top. Homemade apple dumplings, apple crisp, cakes, cookies and more will be sold. To donate homemade baked goods bring items to the church from 6-8 p.m. Friday or 9 a.m. Saturday.

Ethnic Food and Bake Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday during the annual yard sale at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, corner of Church and Winter streets, Old Forge.

Takeouts-Only Chicken Barbecue 3-6 p.m. Saturday in the parish pavilion at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E. Main St., Miners Mills, Wilkes-Barre. Dinners include a half chicken, baked potato, vegetable, cole slaw, dinner roll, and dessert. Tickets are $8 and orders must be placed in advance by calling the Very Rev. David Shewczyk at 825-6540.

Takeouts-Only Ham and Cabbage Dinner 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Honey Pot Volunteer Active Fire Department. corner of Garfield and Honey Pot streets, Nanticoke. Donation is $6. For more information call 735-0508.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner, sponsored by the Kingston Lions Club, 1 1:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Holy Family Parish Hall, Bennett Street, Luzerne. Tickets are available from any club member or call Mark Mizenko, club president, at 288-2277.

King of the Mountain Chili Cook-Off registrations are due Sunday by calling 474-6060 or deliver the $10 fee to Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S. Main Road, Mountain Top. Sponsored by the United Methodist Men, the contest will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the church pavilion. Dwayne (Chili) Sherksnas is the chairman. Chili must be presented in a crock pot. Refreshments, bowls, spoons, ladles and cups will be provided. The donation to taste and judge entries is $5; children younger than 12 are free. Prizes will be given to first- and second-place winners.

Pasties, Pot Pies, Shepherd’s Pie and Pizza orders will be accepted until Oct. 6 by calling the Plymouth Public Library at 779-4775 or by contacting any member of the Friends of the Plymouth Public Library. Pasties are $4.50 each; pot pies and shepherd’s pies are $4.75 each; pizza costs $6.50 per 12-cut box. Pickup orders after noon on Oct. 14. All proceeds benefit the library.

FUTURE

Annual Spaghetti Dinner noon-4 p.m. Oct. 4 in the church hall at Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bliss and Center streets, Hanover, Nanticoke. Takeouts will be sold. A Ukrainian auction featuring theme baskets with handcrafted treats will also take place. Dinners include spaghetti with homemade sauce and meatballs, salad, rolls, homemade desserts, and beverage. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance until Sept. 30 and at the door. Advanced ticket sales will be entered in a special drawing. Final Takeout-Only Chicken Barbecue of the Season 4-6 p.m. Oct. 3 at Larksville United Methodist Church, 147 Wilson St., Larksville. Evalyn Olaviany is chairwomen. Tickets are $8 from any member or by calling 287-5805. Dinners include a half chicken, baked potato, vegetable, applesauce, pepper hash, a roll and homemade cake. Door sales are limited.
