Annual Spaghetti Dinner from 4-8 p.m. today at American Legion Post 558, 99-101 E. Carey St., Plains Township. Pasta, meatballs, salad, rolls, butter, dessert and coffee and tea are on the menu. Cost is $7 per adult; $4 for children.

Spaghetti and Pasta Dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The menu offers a choice of five pastas and seven sauces with chicken or sausage, salad, dessert and a beverage. Takeouts are available. Tickets cost $7 for adults; children 12 years of age and younger $5; children under 5 years dine free. For more information, call 824-1674 on Thursday.

Seafood, Chicken and Beef Dinners are available Friday at American Legion Post 350, 23 W. Broad St., in Nanticoke. Dinners include soup or salad, potato, and vegetable or cole slaw for $8. There will also be a special on the menu that will change each week. Call 735-9872 for more information.

Lenten Fish Fry from 1 1 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., in Berwick. Dine in or takeout meals. Deliveries to factories must be ordered before 10 a.m. the day of the sale. Fried and baked fish, breaded shrimp, chicken fingers, french fries, baked potato, cole slaw, corn, baked beans, pie, rice pudding, coffee, iced tea, soda and spring water are on the menu.

Homemade Pizza will be sold Friday at First United Methodist Church of West Pittston. Pizza by the tray, baked or unbaked, with or without onions costs $10 and can be picked up from 4-7 p.m. Add $1.50 for sweet red peppers. Homemade Food and Bake Sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 1 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, corner of North River and West Chestnut streets, Wilkes-Barre, next to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital parking garage. Spaghetti Dinner from 3-7 p.m. Saturday at the Shickshinny Fire Hall. The meal is being sponsored by the Historical and Preservation Society of the Greater Shickshinny Area and the Business Association of the Greater Shickshinny Area. Chicken and Biscuit Dinner and Welsh Cookie Sale from 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday at Eastern Star Hall, Foster Street, Dallas. Takeouts begin at 4 p.m. Dinner tickets are $7.50 per adult; $4 for children; preschool-age children dine free. Tickets will be sold at the door. The Dallas chapter of the Eastern Star Building Association is sponsoring the event.

44th Annual German Nite 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. The non-smoking event is the largest pre-Lenten German-American celebration in the region. A German-style buffet and beverages will be served and music will be by the Walt Groller Orchestra from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Tickets are limited, cost $25 per person and may be obtained from Holy Name or committee members or by calling the rectory at 823-7736. Tables of eight or more can be reserved upon payment.

Mardi Gras Celebration from 6-10 p.m. Saturday at St. Theresa’s Church Hall, 35 Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Price includes food, beverages and music by DJ Bob Loftus. There will be games, raffles, and a silent auction, the selection of a Mardi Gras king and queen and more.

21st Annual Pancake Breakfast 7 a.m.-noon Sunday -- snow or rain -- at the Germania Hose Company, Duryea. Takeouts will be available. Enter at the main entrance. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children with funds benefiting the Building Fund. The unlimited buffet will offer sausage, ham, eggs, rolls, pancakes, and a choice of beverage.

Annual Kaffee Klatsch and Bake Sale from 1 1:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday in the St. Boniface Hall, 221 Blackman St., Wilkes-Barre. Tickets for the pork and sauerkraut dinner will be sold at the door. Pierogi Sale is being sponsored by the Christian Mothers’ and Women’s Organization of Holy Family Church in Sugar Notch. Cheese filled are $7 per dozen and potato filled are $6 per dozen. Pickup orders between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the church hall as follows: cheese Feb. 24-26; potato Feb. 25-26. They can also be picked up after weekend Masses, the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 1 1 a.m. Masses on Sunday, but no later than March 8.

Pierogi Sale, sponsored by Church of the Good Shepherd, Polish National Catholic. One dozen with potato and cheese filling cost $7 and will be sold Sunday and March 8. Farmer’s cheese filling will be sold only on March 22 for $8.50 per dozen. Place orders by calling 779-4781. Pickup orders from 3-5 p.m. in the church auditorium in the rear of the church.

Lenten Food Sale on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 25, and March 27 at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 585 Mt. Olivet Road, Wyoming. Manhattan clam chowder, $7/quart; halushki, $5/quart; and fresh baked bread, $3/loaf, are on the menu. Orders are due by Monday and March 25 by calling Jo McGuire at 675-1860. 5th Annual All-You-Can-Eat Chinese Buffet, hosted by the Vegetarian Way, noon-3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Tasty Buffet, 15 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre. Dr. Heather De Luca will discuss “What is Naturopathic Medicine?” A question and answer period will follow. A variety of soups, spring rolls, and vegetarian dishes with and without meat are on the menu. Cost is $13 for members and $16 non-members. Special rates for children are available upon request. Mardi Gras Party, sponsored by the Wyoming Area Kiwanis Club, will take place from 6-1 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at Gober’s Deco Lounge, 1248 Wyoming Ave., Exeter. Cost is $20 per person for the Cajun style buffet dinner, beer and soda. A mixed drink cash bar will be available all night. Music will be provided by “Greg and the Guys.” There will be a costume contest with prizes and a basket raffle. All proceeds will benefit Kiwanis community service projects and youth programs. Shrove Tuesday Egg-Sausage-Pancake Dinner Feb. 24 at Trinity Episcopal Church, corner of 220 Montgomery St., West Pittston. Takeouts and seating will be available from 3:30-7 p.m. Adult dinners are $6; youths 10 years of age and younger are $3 and includes beverage and dessert. The event supports the parish’s mission. Girl Scout Cookies Sales, sponsored by the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, are under way. Orders can be place with any Girl Scout and at booth sales through March 23. Booth sales begin Feb. 27. Cost is $3.50 per box. Eight varieties of Little Brownie Baker’s cookies include Do-Si-Dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Samoas, Sugar Free Chocolate Chips, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Thin Mints, and the new Dulce De Leche. Homemade Easter Rolls and Paska Bread can be ordered now through April 1 by calling 822-7725.
