Hibernians receive chair used by St. John Neumann

The Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. John Neumann Division of Wilkes-Barre, was recently presented a 160-year-old chair that belonged to St. John Neumann, who used it to celebrate Mass in the lower church in St. Peter’s Cathedral in Philadelphia. The chair, which was saved from a landfill by a contractor in Philadelphia, was presented by Pat King, division president, and retired Philadelphia police officer Frank Kennely from the AOH division in White Haven. For more information, contact Jim Gallagher, Pennsylvania state board district director, at 823-0480 or 362-1350. With the chair, from left: John Jewell, division president; Joe Clark, charter member of St. John Neumann’s division and a life member of the Order; and Gallagher.
