HARVEYS LAKE: Outlet Bible Tabernacle Church will host guest speaker the Rev. Phil Schultz, executive director of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre Rescue Service, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The 5 p.m. Sunday service will include a concert by Carl Opal Schlappi. A fellowship will be held after the concert. The public is invited. For more information call 574-1997.
HUNLOCK CREEK: Oakdale United Methodist Church is accepting orders for the October Angel Food Ministries menu. To place orders, visit the church at 485 Oakdale Drive from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. For directions, or if unable to visit at this time, call Vicki Seward Benscoter at 256-7875 after 4 p.m. Orders also can be mailed to Oakdale UMC, P.O. Box 101, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621. Call 256-7875 before mailing orders.
All orders must be placed before noon on Oct. 11 and can be picked up from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 at the church. Pre-payment is required. Cash is preferred, but money orders and food stamps are accepted.

Main menu: $30 for 1.5 pounds ribeye steaks; 4.5 pounds split chicken breasts; 26 ounces heat-and-serve meatloaf with gravy; 1 pound chicken breast fajita strips; 1 pound boneless, center-cut pork chops; 1 pound cooked meatballs; 1 pound hot dogs; 1 pound frozen sliced carrots; 1 pound California-blend vegetables; 1 pound pasta; 32 ounces reduced-fat milk; 28 ounces marinara sauce; 48 ounces Hawaiian Punch; 12 corn tortillas; 1 dozen eggs and 1 dessert item.
For an additional fee the following specials are available:
Special No. 1: $21 for 7-pound grill box including sirloin, baby-back ribs, hamburgers and pork chops.
Special No. 2: $21 for 4.5-pound meat and chicken combo box of ribeye and New York strip steaks and bacon-wrapped chicken filets.
Special No. 3: $21 for 3.75 pounds of T-bone steaks.
Special No. 4: $18 for 10 pounds of breaded chicken tenders.
Special No. 5: $21 for fresh fruit and veggie box, including cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, onions, potatoes, apples, lemons, pineapple and baby carrots.
LAUREL RUN: The Laurel Run Primitive Methodist Church will hold a men’s prayer breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 11. The men’s class will hold a free spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. on Oct. 11. After the dinner, there will be a free 2-hour concert by the Forty Fort Praise Band. The band will also perform at 9:45 a.m. on Rally Day, Oct. 12, and during the 11 a.m. worship service. LEHMAN TWP.: River of Life Fellowship Ministries, 22 Outlet Road, will start its youth group night from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday. There will be three age groups: senior youth, grades 7-12; junior youth, grades 4-6; and beginner youth, grades 1-3. There will be fast-paced, worship music, devotions, games and other activities. MOUNTAIN TOP: Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S. Main Road, will hold grief classes at 7 p.m. every Tuesday. Anyone in the community, who has suffered a loss of any kind, may come to the free, six-week program. For more information, call Debbie at 474-5243 (evenings).
NANTICOKE: The Mother Theresa Social Concerns Ministry of the parish community of Holy Child, Holy Trinity, St. Mary of Czestochowa and St. Stanislaus Churches will celebrate a Respect Life Mass at 8 a.m. on Sunday at St. Stanislaus Church, Church Street, Nanticoke.
The ministry is collecting newborn and infant disposable diapers. Donations can be taken to any Mass in the parish community this weekend, or they can be dropped off at the parish office.
There will be a viewing of “Cutting through the Spin on Stem Cells & Cloning” at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the St. Stanislaus Rectory. The video is approximately one hour and 20 minutes. No reservations are required.
A Day of Prayer and Reflection will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Holy Trinity Parish Hall, South Hanover Street. Topics will include They Have No Wine and Lourdes. PLAINS TWP.: The Altar and Rosary Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church will hold its annual anniversary breakfast after the 8 a.m. Mass on Oct.19. All women of the Catholic community of Plains Township organizations are invited to attend. The group will meet at 7:30 a.m. to recite the rosary and attend the 8 a.m. Mass. The coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary will take place at the breakfast. The society will attend Mass every Sunday in October, the month of the Holy Rosary, and recite the rosary prior to Mass.
SHAVERTOWN: The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Therese’s Church will hold its 50th Annual Birthday Tea at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12 in Father Sammons Hall. There will be refreshments, birthday presents, door prizes, a Chinese auction, 50/50 chances and chances for a prize-winning quilt. Entertainment will be provided by “Changing Habits.”
TRUCKSVILLE: Cross Creek Community Church, located 2 miles from the light in Trucksville, at 370 Carverton Road, will host its annual chili cook-off event and fall festival at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the church’s Twin Pavilions.
