Marywood dietician students to intern at YMCA

The Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA has partnered with Marywood University to mentor Registered Dietitian interns throughout the year. Current interns, Allie Sodl and Corrine Kanetski, are working on two major projects: Nutrition Analysis for Boot Camp participants and CATCH Kids Club nutrition education. Boot Camp is a group personal training class that guides participants through cardiovascular and weight training exercises. The interns and Registered Dietitian on staff, Clancy Cash Harrison, provide free nutritional analysis for participants. This includes specific and individual weight loss goals based on age, weight, height, and activity level. The participants also have their daily diet analyzed. The CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) Kids Club is an after school program that offers physical activity and nutritional education designed for school-aged children in grades 3-5. The interns assist the instructors with preparing the program’s nutrition component. Other nutritional programs and individual counseling sessions are available for YMCA members and non-members which could be covered by insurance. Contact Clancy Cash Harrison at 570-823-2191 ext. 168 for more information. From left: Kanetski and Sodl.
