Miss UNICO pageant will be held Wednesday at Woodlands

WILKES-BARRE: The Wilkes-Barre chapter of UNICO announced that this year’s Miss UNICO Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. The pageant will feature representatives from more than 15 local high schools. The chairman of the pageant is attorney Jarrett J. Ferentino and co-chairmen are Joseph Donnini and John Augustine.

The pageant will be hosted by Kristi Capel, the morning weather anchor for WBRE News. Kristi grew up in Northern Kentucky. She moved to Missouri on a college volleyball scholarship to Evangel University, where she earned a degree in broadcasting. Capel interned in Cincinnati, Ohio at WCPO and at KSPR News in Springfield, Mo. She won the title of Miss Missouri USA 2006 and represented Missouri at the 2006 Miss USA pageant.

The 2009 Annual UNICO football game will be held at the Wilkes-Barre Area stadium on Nov. 25. Pre-game will be at 6 p.m. with kick off at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at Joe Nardone’s Gallery of Sound and at the gate.

Miss UNICO and all of the contestants will represent their schools at the game. This year’s game chairmen are attorney Jamie Anzalone, Dr. William Anzalone and Al Galutis. All three chairmen are former players in the UNICO game

UNICO raises funds through its game and other events and contributes more than $30,000 annually to local charities and organizations around Northeastern Pennsylvania.
