DALLAS TWP.: Masonic Village at Dallas at the Irem Temple Country Club will sponsor a walk-in flu shot clinic from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the residents’ lounge in Walther Apartments. Registered nurses from Interim HealthCare will provide the vaccinations for senior citizens age 60 years and older.

Participants without medical insurance will be charged $25.

EXETER: The Exeter Senior Citizens Social Club will travel to Atlantic City on Oct. 23. The bus will depart at 10 a.m.

Only standby reservations are being accepted for the Nov. 8 trip to the American Theatre in Lancaster. Cost is $85; $57 for children 13 years old and younger.

The group will also see Andre Rieu in concert on May 15 at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township.

All trips are open to the public. Deposits are required and payment plans are available.

EXETER: The Cosmopolitan Seniors next meeting will take place at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 in St. Cecelia’s parish center. Vic Malinowski will preside. Host and hostesses will be contacted. Members are asked to make their reservations by Oct. 14 for the Octoberfest to be held on Oct. 21.

Travel coordinator Johanna has changes regarding the Charlie Prose show on Oct. 8. The new pickup time is 8 a.m. and the bus will now depart from St. Anthony’s parking lot in Exeter.

Other trips include:

• Caesar’s in Atlantic City on Oct. 15.

• “Christmas in the Pocono’s” at Mount Haven on Dec. 14.

KINGSTON: Voter registration forms are available at Griswold Special Care, located in Suite 102, New Bridge Center, 480 Pierce St. This non-partisan effort is to ensure older adults and people with disabilities have an opportunity to vote in the election on Nov. 4.

Arrangements can be made to have forms delivered to home-bound residents. The home health care agency will also help individuals obtain absentee ballots.

Completed voter registrations forms must be returned to Griswold Special Care by Friday. The agency will deliver all forms to the Luzerne County Bureau of Elections by Oct. 6, the deadline to register to vote and change political parties.

KINGSTON: The Kingston Senior Citizen Center, 680 Wyoming Ave., will offer the following activities:

• A “Flu Prevention” program by Interim Health Care will be held at 11 a.m. today.

• Pre-registration is required for the computer classes planned from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

• An art show featuring the works of members of the weekly art class will be on display beginning Thursday through Oct. 9.

• On Monday, the center will host the shuffleboard team from Dallas from 10 a.m.-noon. Also, a computer class will take place from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Dirty Bingo will be played at 1 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a new gift valued at $2.

• The craft class will make decorative clay pots at 10 a.m. on Oct. 7. Cost is $2.

• Members of the center are making small pillows for breast cancer patients in recognition of Breast Cancer Month in October.

MOUNTAIN TOP: The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library will sponsor two AARP Driver Safety Program classes.

A refresher course is planned from 12:30-4:45 p.m. on Oct. 8 for drivers who have not taken the course in more than three years.

A class will be held from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 15-16 for new and returning drivers. Participants must attend both sessions in order to receive a certificate.

Registration is required in advance at the library, 35 Kirby Ave., or call 474-9313.

On the first day of class, students must bring a driver’s license, pens or pencils along with a check or money order for $10 per person payable to AARP.

The course is designed for adults age 50 and older and includes group interaction and discussion and entitles motorists to a 5 percent discount on auto insurance.

PLAINS TWP.: Plains Senior Citizens Project is making plans for its Christmas party to be held at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. The date and time will be discussed at the next meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s hall.

Brigid O’Connor is chairwoman for the affair. Frances Mattiucci, Viola Rubbino and Emily Strinkoski will serve on the planning committee.

Members are reminded to bring donations of non-perishable food for the food pantry.

Hostesses will be Theresa Tempalski, Joanne Marko Thomas, Helen Trasciatti, Jean Trosky, Ruth Verespy, Betty Welgos and Kathleen Wysocki.

New members are being accepted.

SHICKSHINNY: The Shickshinny Senior Center will host special dinners on Oct. 9 in recognition of Columbus Day, and on Oct. 20 with a theme of “Hug for Health.”

Blood pressure screenings by Berwick Home Health will be provided before lunch on Oct. 22.

A presentation on ovarian cancer by Northeast Cancer Association will be presented at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 23.

A Halloween dinner and party are planned on Oct. 31. Participants are invited to wear a costume. Prizes will be awarded. There will also be games, gifts and treats.

On Oct. 13, the center will be closed in observance of Columbus Day.

WILKES-BARRE: The Miners Mills Community Club recently held its annual picnic. Plans were made for a Halloween party on Oct. 21. Pearl Day and Helen Dula will co-chair the event.

The next meeting will begin at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 in St. Francis Church hall, Miners Mills. Hosting will be Theodora Antosh, Dolores Gupko, Betty Welgus, Charlotte Zayarzkowski and Agnes Zuber.
