ASHLEY: The Ashley Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. today in the church hall of St. Leo’s. Marie Laux and Kaye Kreig will be hostesses.

Upcoming activities include a trip to the Music Box Theater in Swoyersville to see “The Gift of the Magi” on Nov. 30, and a Christmas party that will be held Dec. 9 at the Ramada Inn, Wilkes-Barre. Helen Amandala is chairperson.

The next meeting is Dec. 23. Joanne Shervan, president, will preside.

DALLAS: The Dallas Senior Center, 22 Rice St., is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center offers shuffleboard, cards, bingo, exercise, dominoes, puzzles, games, nutrition, education and health information. A hot lunch is served daily at noon with a $1 donation. Members of the community age 60 years and older are welcome. Lunch reservations should be made a day in advance by 1 p.m.

EDWARDSVILLE: The Edwardsville Senior Center, 57 Russell St., announces the following activities:

• A free blood pressure screening by ManorCare at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

• Bag lunch pickup will be between 11 and 11:30 a.m. Friday.

• A Veterans Day special lunch will be held Monday. Bingo will be played and a raffle will be conducted.

• The center will be closed in observance of Veterans Day Nov. 11.

There are still at few seats available for the Christmas festival at the Music Box Theater on Dec. 7. Dinner will be at 1:30 p.m. and the show is at 3 p.m. Transportation from the center departs at 1 p.m. Cost is $40. Call 287-3381 as soon as possible to reserve a seat.

HANOVER TWP.: The Lee Park Senior Center, 140 Lee Park Ave., announces the following:

• Bag lunch will be served Friday. The center will close early.

• A Veterans Day Special will be served Monday.

Bingo is played every Tuesday after lunch. The center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

KINGSTON: The Kingston Senior Citizen Center, 680 Wyoming Ave., announces the following activities:

• Dave Shallcross, of the state attorney general’s office, will speak at 10:30 a.m. today about identity theft.

• The center will close at 11 a.m. Friday. Bag lunches will be served and should be picked up before 11 a.m. There will be no van service.

• There will be a Veterans Day special dinner Monday. Dirty bingo will be played at 1 p.m. and a pre-registered computer class will take place.

• The center will be close Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

• Caresite Pharmacy will do a presentation on diabetes at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12. Regular council meeting will be at 12:45 p.m. Center chorus will perform at Riverstreet Manor at 2:30 p.m.

• Glucose testing will take place at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13.

• The Thursday bridge club is looking for members.

• The center has begun serving a light breakfast daily from 9-10 a.m.

KINGSTON TWP.: The Kingston Township Residents 55+ Group will meet from noon-3 p.m. Nov. 11 for a brown bag lunch in the lower level of the Herbert Hill Room of the municipal building, 180 E. Center St., Shavertown.

Members are encouraged to bring board games or a deck of cards. New members are invited.

MOUNTAIN TOP: Former members, guests and friends of the disbanded Mountain Top Leisure Group are invited to attend a Dutch-treat first reunion luncheon at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Old Country Buffet, East End Center, Wilkes-Barre Township.

No reservations necessary. Pay the cashier upon arrival.

MOUNTAIN TOP: The Mountain Top Social Club will conduct its next meeting Nov. 11 at St. Jude’s Church in the Father Nolan Hall Day Room. Doors open at 3:15 p.m. Anyone 50 years or older may attend. Halloween will be celebrated.

Members are reminded the Nov. 5 trip to Lancaster departs at 6:30 a.m. from St. Jude’s Church and at 7 a.m. from St. Therese’s Church, Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre. Travelers are asked to arrive 15 minutes in advance.

NEWPORT TWP.: The Newport Township Women’s Activity Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Centre Inn. The meeting is open to new members. Upcoming events including the fall bingo and the children’s Christmas party will be discussed.

PITTSTON: The Pittston Senior Center, 441 N. Main St., is offering knitting classes on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. with Carol Fergusen.

All those with reservations for the Atlantic City trip are reminded that departure time on Thursday is 8 a.m.; arrive 15 minutes prior to departure.

There are still seats available for a day trip to Ace in the Hole Productions’ Christmas show titled “Rockin Around The Christmas Tree” on Dec. 4. Cost is $70.

Entertainment books are available for purchase at the center. Cost is $25. It includes money saving coupons for grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment, travel, hotels and more.

The center will be close at 1 p.m. Friday. Afternoon activities are cancelled.

APPRISE volunteers will be available at the center by appointment to assist with Medicare Part D supplemental insurance. Contact Connie or Hazel at 655-5561.

PITTSTON: The Greater Pittston Area Chapter 1723, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Dupont. The nomination and election of officers will take place.

Margaret Pointek will discuss autism and Alzheimer’s disease. Regina McHale will discuss medication mistakes. John Ryan and Louis DeGenarro were acknowledged for being recognized by the Pennsylvania Federation for their recruitment efforts.

Gerald Pace will discuss further charges for prescriptions at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Reservations will be taken for the luncheon scheduled for Dec. 11. Payment is required by Dec. 6.

PLYMOUTH: The Senior Citizen Friendship Club of St. Mary’s gave gifts to Frank Carey, Phyllis Warakomski and Dolores Stabulis for having the best costumes at a recent meeting.

Anyone wishing to make a donation for the bakeless bake sale can do so by seeing Jean Carey at the next meeting.

Fifty-fifty winners were Miriam Elko and Bernadine Clark.

The annual Christmas party will be held Dec. 7 at Konefal’s Restaurant, Edwardsville.

A trip to Hunterdon Hills is planned for Nov. 29. This will include a Christmas show and dinner. Anyone interested may call Ann at 779-3203.

The next meeting is at 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Child School building, Willow Street, Plymouth. Serving will be Phyllis Stock, Celia Medura, Eleanore Stush, Verna Strumski, Romaine Valovicz and Phyllis Warakomski.

WYOMING: At a recent meeting, table prizes were won by Marianne Paluck, Stella Antos and Elinor Saneski. Madeline Luce won a candy dish. Fifty-fifty winners were Elinor Yurek, Vicky Mechlavage and Angie Zagursky. The next meeting is today and the nomination of officers for 2008-2010 will take place.

President Frank Perfinski appointed Marion Pocceschi, Sam DeSalvo and Vicky Mechlavage to the nominating committee. The election of officers will be at the Nov. 18 meeting. Bakers for the next meeting are George Kraynak, Marie Mattina and Ann Turon.
