ASHLEY: The Ashley Neighborly Senior Citizens meet today in St. Leo’s Church hall. Joy Raub and Hedy Shantz will host the session. Joan Shewan, president, will preside.

The Christmas party was held Dec. 9 at the Ramada Inn with Helen Amendola as chairwoman.

DUPONT: The Greater Pittston Area Chapter 1723 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post home with John Ryan presiding.

All members are urged to attend.

Future activities will be discussed and a committee chairperson will be named. Refreshments will be served.

At the December luncheon, the following were installed by President William Burns: John Ryan, president; Regina McHale, first vice president; Sal Alaimo, second vice president; and Gerald Pace, treasurer.

The association mourned the death of former chapter secretary Louis DeGennaro.

EDWARDSVILLE: The Edwardsville Senior Center at 57 Russell St. will offer free blood pressure screenings at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Documents previously prepared by Legal Services will be returned at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 13. Call 287-3381 for more information.

KINGSTON: The Kingston Senior Citizen Center, 680 Wyoming Ave., will host a presentation by the Anthracite Museum today.

Oatmeal will be served and its benefits discussed from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in celebration of National Oatmeal Month.

The American Red Cross will give a presentation on “Winter Preparedness” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The movie “Mama Mia” will be shown at 1 p.m. Monday.

KINGSTON TWP.: The Kingston Township 55+ Group will meet for a bagged-lunch from noon-3 p.m. today in the lower level of the Kingston Township Municipal Building, 180 Center St., Shavertown.

Parking is available in the rear of the building.

MOUNTAIN TOP: The Mountain Top Social Club will conduct its next meeting on Jan. 13 at the Marion Sutherland Kirby Library on Kirby Avenue. Doors will open at 1 p.m.

Anyone 50 years of age or older is welcome to join. Dues also will be collected at this time.

PITTSTON: The Pittston Senior Center, 441 N. Main St., is forming a bowling league. Bowling will take place at 1:30 p.m. Fridays for 14 weeks at Modern Lanes in Exeter. Cost is $5 per week and includes three games.

Bowlers of all skill levels 60 years of age and older may join. A banquet will close the season.

Also, members’ personal information such as addresses and medications should be up to date.

SHICKSHINNY: The Shickshinny Senior Center, 19 W. Vine St., is accepting new members.

SWOYERSVILLE: The Swoyersville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church.

WILKES-BARRE: The Firwood Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Firwood United Methodist Church. Joe Kelly will preside. Members are reminded to bring a bagged lunch; beverages will be provided.

Upcoming trips include a Valentine Tea Feb. 12 at R&B Memories in Lee Park, $16; March 11, Hunterdon Playhouse, Music of America, $70 with dinner; April 30, Paper Mill Playhouse for “1776,” $65, show only; April 18-27 Shades of Ireland with Collette Tours. For information, call 824-6538.

WILKES-BARRE: The Lee Park Senior Center, 140 Lee Park Ave., will sponsor a health education program by Bayada Nurses at 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Membership is open and costs $4 per year. For more information, call the center at 825-9883.

WYOMING: The meeting of the Wyoming-West Wyoming Seniors is at 1:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Hall. Membership dues will be collected. New members are invited to join.

The facility is handicapped accessible. Bakers are Mary Matani, Ray Paluck and Joe Shymanski.

Newly-elected officers for the 2009-2010 term are president Frank Perfinski, vice president Marie Mattina, secretary Olga Mizin and treasurer Genny Labaty.
