The West Pittston Lions Club is conducting two projects for Christmas: a food drive and cards for military veterans. Donations of food to restock the pantry shelves at First United Methodist Church on Wyoming Avenue can be brought to Agolino’s Restaurant and Nardone’s Restaurant, both on Luzerne Avenue; Miss Kim’s Coffee To Go, corner of Wyoming and Exeter avenues; the home of Mark Mazurkivich, club president, 213 Montgomery Ave.; and Ross Group Properties, 20 Luzerne Ave. For the third year, Kim Burnham, owner of Miss Kim’s Coffee To Go, is collecting Christmas cards marked ‘Merry Christmas’ on the envelope for veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township. Burnham has already mailed 500 cards to Afghanistan and Iraq. Cards can be left at the coffee shop or at food drop sites. To join the club, call 208-LION. Club members are Joan Milligan, Mazurkivich, Mary Lou Bechtold and Burnham.
