Wilkes holds scholarship donors’ luncheon

WILKES-BARRE: Three newly endowed scholarships and six new annual scholarships were awarded at Wilkes University’s annual scholarship donors’ luncheon. The luncheon provides an opportunity for students to meet the donors or representatives of their scholarships. Scholarship recipients were:

David Yezefski, a sophomore theatre arts major from Nanticoke, received the newly endowed Christopher Kopernik Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Dr. Francis and Dr. Lidia Kopernik in memory of their son, Christopher.

Brett Digwood, a junior entrepreneurship major from Old Forge, became the first recipient of the newly endowed Peter W. Perog CPA ’60 Scholarship in entrepreneurship. The scholarship is endowed by Peter Perog ’60 of Little River, S.C.

Ryan Hart, a sophomore history major and secondary education minor from Wilkes-Barre, is the first recipient of the newly endowed Alan David Sherman Scholarship. The scholarship is endowed by Dan Sherman ’50 of Wyomissing.

Thomas Pavlick, a freshman chemistry major from Hunlock Creek, was this year’s recipient of the Joseph G. Bendoritis Ph.D. ’51 Scholarship. Dr. Joseph Bendoritis ’51 lives in Knoxville, Tenn.

Zachary Brady, a senior history major from West Pittston, and senior political science major Matthew Dunn of Summit Hill, were recipients of the Felix Infausto Memorial Annual Scholarship. The scholarship was created by a gift from Clara Infausto in memory of her husband, Felix.

Miles Humenansky, a freshman political science major from Edwardsville, received the George ’71 and Jean Matz Scholarship.

Freshman nursing students Alexander DeVito of Quakertown and Elizabeth Connolly of Chalfont were recipients of the Patricia “Patsy” Reese Annual Nursing Scholarship, established by Coach John G. Reese and his family to honor his wife, Patsy Reese.

Jonathan Kocher, a sophomore accounting major from Larksville, received the Joseph M. Roszko ’68 Annual Scholarship.

Sophomore electrical engineering majors Samuel Mauro of Bangor and Russel Dehaut of Wilkes-Barre were recipients of the Sidney Tomberg ’35 Annual Scholarship.
