WILKES-BARRE: A Yom Hashoah Commemoration will begin with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Jewish Community Center, South River Street. The event is being sponsored by the JCC and the Jewish Federation.
A memorial torch will be lit in memory of the 13 million people who perished during the Nazi regime.
Dr. Michael Bar-Zohar will speak at 7:30 p.m. Bar-Zohar, an academic, soldier, writer and legislator, is an authority on Israel and the Middle East. He is the official biographer of David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s founding father, and Israel’s President Shimon Peres. He is the author of 35 books, served two terms in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, and was a member of the Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee and Israel’s representative in the Council of Europe.
In addition, in observance of the “Days of Remembrance” the exhibit “Witness to the Holocaust” will be on display beginning Tuesday through Friday at the JCC. For more information, call Barbara Sugarman at 824-4646
