MOUNTAIN TOP: Mountain Post American Legion Auxiliary Unit 781 will have its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Legion home. Current and new members are urged to attend.

The auxiliary will make hoagies on Jan. 21. Cost is $3. Place orders at the Legion home or call Dolorus at 868-6627.

NEWPORT TWP.: American Legion Post 539 will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Post home. Dues for 2010 will be collected.

WILKES-BARRE: The Italian American Veterans of Luzerne County Post 1 has amended its bylaws to open membership to members of the Reserves and National Guard. The change was made due to ongoing deployments to fight terrorism.
