Toyota Pavilion boasts three days of summer performances

Toyota Pavilion boasts three days of summer performances

This is a banner weekend at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain, as the venue presents three shows on three consecutive days for the only time this summer.

Country is on tap tonight as Brad Paisley and his “Party Tour” come to the mountain. Paisley is touring in support of his album “5th Gear,” which is now No. 11 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart after peaking at No. 1.

Also on tonight’s bill are Jewel, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough.

Jewel, the host of TV’s “Nashville Star,” is sitting one notch ahead of Paisley on the chart with her first country release, “Perfectly Clear.”

Wicks, a native of Smyrna, Del., who recently took Nashville by storm, will play songs from his “Starting Now” album.

Hough is a singer, dancer and actress who won the “Dancing with the Stars” competition twice and is touring in support of her self-titled debut album.

Saturday night boasts a double-headlining show with Maroon 5 and Counting Crows. The three-time Grammy Award-winning Maroon 5 recently re-released its “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” album (now No. 25 on the chart). The record now features a duet with Rihanna on “If I Never See Your Face Again,” along with the No. 1 smash “Makes Me Wonder.”

Counting Crows, who burst on to the scene in 1994 with “Mr. Jones” and the “August and Everything After” album, are coming to the mountain to play selections from “Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings.” Lead singer Adam Duritz and company always deliver an energetic and passionate performance, sometimes extending and rewriting songs on stage, and are heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and The Band.

Sara Bareilles will open Saturday’s show. Bareilles, who has been compared with Norah Jones and Fiona Apple, will play “Love Song” (No. 36 on the Hot 100) and other songs from her “Little Voice” album.

Finally, anyway you slice it, 47 bands and nine hours of music for $30 (or $35 if you wait until the day of the show to get your ticket) is a good deal.

That’s what you’ll get when the Vans Warped Tour rolls into town Sunday. Doors open at 11 a.m., and music gets under way at noon.

The Warped Tour, named after a short-lived magazine called Warp that featured skateboarding, snowboarding and music, was founded in 1994 by Kevin Lyman. It has been hitting the concert trail every summer since then, going international in 1998. This will be its fourth consecutive summer at Montage.

There are no official headliners on the tour, but perhaps the biggest names coming into Moosic this time around are Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes, Charlotte Sometimes, Forever The Sickest Kids and Reel Big Fish.

Perry is entering her fourth week atop the Hot 100 with “I Kissed A Girl.” Her “One of the Boys” album is now at No. 12 on the Billboard chart.

Other groups hitting the stage at Montage: 3OH!3, The Academy Is … , Against Me!, The Aggrolites, Alesana, All That Remains, Anberlin, Angels and Airwaves, The Audition, Automatic Love Letter, Beat Union, Bouncing Souls, Bring Me the Horizon, The Bronx, The Classic Crime, Cobra Starship and Confide.

Also: Dr. Manhattan, Evergreen Terrace, Every Time I Die, The Fabulous Rudies, Four Year Strong, From First to Last, Horrorpops, The Human Abstract, The Lordz, Ludo, MC Chris, Norma Jean, Oreska, Pennywise, Protest the Hero, Reliant K, The Saint Alvia Cartel, Say Anything, Set Your Goals, Settings, Shwayze, Sky Eats Airplane, Story of the Year, Street Dogs and We The Kings.

There will be six stages: main stage left; main stage right; Hurley Stage; Hurley.com Stage; Smart Punk Stage; and Kia Kevin Says Stage. Stage assignments for individual bands with performance times will be posted at the show. As always, fans will get to vote online for the band they want to see do a longer set to bring the daylong party to a close.
