WILKES-BARRE – J. Michael Lennon, former Wilkes University provost and current interim director of the school’s creative writing program, has edited a selection of the letters of the late Norman Mailer for publication in the Oct. 6 issue of the New Yorker.
Mailer, who died last year, was a founding board member of the university’s creative writing program.
The 39 letters deal with American politics, including comment on American presidents, elections, the positions of liberals and conservations, and events of major political significance.
Lennon is Mailers’ archivist, authorized biographer and a member of the executive board of the newly established Norman Mailer Writers Colony in Provincetown, Mass.
