FAIRMONT TWP. – A 43-year-old Hunlock Creek man was shot in the buttocks late Thursday night after a fight, state police at Shickshinny aid Friday.
Trooper Chris Wegrzynowicz said three people were at a house at 945 Bethel Hill Road around 9:30 p.m. when a fight broke out.
One individual who resided there pulled out a firearm and shot the Hunlock Creek man in the buttocks, police said. The injuries are not considered life-threatening, police added.
Police did not release the name of the victim or shooter.
Records indicate Delbert and Enid Hines are owners of the Bethel Hill Road property.
State police Lt. Rick Krawetz said the incident is still under investigation and that police cannot confirm what the argument was about.
Krawetz and Luzerne County District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll said charges are pending.
After the shooting, the victim was with friends Thursday night when they stopped at the Pen-Mart convenience story on Route 118.
According to Krawetz and a 911 supervisor, a friend of the victim told a store employee at the counter that a passenger in their vehicle had been shot in the buttocks.
The vehicle then left the store but stopped at a nearby Wendy’s parking lot along Route 415 in Dallas Township.
That’s when Dallas Township police arrived on the scene and called for an ambulance. The man was taken to a local hospital. Krawetz said he is unsure if the victim was released.
