NW Rangers bag Bucks in AAC action

FARWELL – Northwest used the running of tailback Brett Rutkowski en route to a 44-20 victory win against Bucktail in an All-American Football Conference game Tuesday night.

Bucktail jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but Rutkowski moved the Rangers (6-2) within 7-6 after one quarter on an 85-yard touchdown run.

Rutkowski struck the Buck defense two more times in the second quarter. His scoring runs of 5 and 18 yards built the Rangers’ lead to 18-7. Northwest was in control the rest of the game, building the lead to 32-13 at halftime on a 43-yard interception return by Bret Sikora and a 13-yard touchdown run by quarterback Billy Winter.

Winter increased the Northwest lead to 38-13 with a 31-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He finished off the scoring with a 2-yard run in the fourth.

Northwest, which defeated Holy Redeemer last Saturday, will face Carson Long Military Academy for its third game in an eight-day period.

The Rangers sit atop the All-American Conference standings and have clinched a berth in the District 2 Class 2A playoffs.
